The human papillomavirus type 16 recombinant adenoviral vector vaccine is a therapeutic vaccine candidate developed by Zhejiang Pukang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. for the treatment of persistent HPV16 infection and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). The vaccine utilizes a recombinant adenoviral vector to deliver genetic sequences encoding the HPV16 E6 and E7 oncoproteins. Unlike prophylactic HPV vaccines that induce neutralizing antibodies to prevent viral entry, this therapeutic approach aims to stimulate a robust cellular immune response, specifically CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, to recognize and eliminate cells already expressing these viral proteins. This mechanism is intended to clear persistent infections and reverse precancerous lesions, potentially preventing progression to cervical cancer.
