Overview

Human placental mesenchymal stem cells (hPMSCs) are multipotent progenitor cells isolated from placental tissue, offering a non-invasive and ethically favorable source for regenerative medicine. Developed as a therapeutic intervention by Zhengzhou First People's Hospital, these cells are primarily investigated for the treatment of deep second-degree burns and chronic non-healing wounds. The therapeutic efficacy of hPMSCs is attributed to their ability to migrate to injured tissues and secrete a diverse array of bioactive molecules, including growth factors and anti-inflammatory cytokines. This paracrine activity promotes angiogenesis, reduces local inflammation, and stimulates the proliferation of fibroblasts and keratinocytes, thereby accelerating the wound-healing process and improving the quality of tissue repair. Unlike bone marrow-derived MSCs, hPMSCs are easier to obtain and exhibit lower immunogenicity, making them suitable for allogeneic transplantation.
