Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Human rabies vaccine (vero cells) is a **purified inactivated viral vaccine** produced by growing the rabies virus in Vero cell cultures, followed by multiple stages of clarification, concentration, inactivation (typically with β-propiolactone), and chromatographic purification to remove impurities such as residual host cell DNA or proteins. It is indicated for **pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis of rabies** in humans. These vaccines induce the production of neutralizing antibodies targeting the rabies virus glycoprotein, the principal antigen that elicits a protective immune response. The vaccines consistently yield seroconversion in nearly all recipients within two weeks and are widely used due to safety, immunogenicity, and suitability for large-scale production. Multiple brands exist, including SPEEDA PVRV (Liaoning Chengda Biology), VERORAB (Sanofi), and PVRV-NG (Sanofi).
