Human Rhinovirus serotype 39 (HRV-39) is a specific strain of Human Rhinovirus, commonly known as the "common cold virus." It is utilized in experimental infection studies, particularly in clinical trials, to investigate its role in the pathogenesis of respiratory conditions such as asthma exacerbations and airway remodeling. HRV-39 infects airway epithelial cells, leading to changes in cell biology that cause inflammation and contribute to structural alterations in the airways.
