Overview

Human treated dentine matrix (hTDM) is a bioactive, acellular scaffold derived from human teeth, specifically processed to remove cellular components while preserving the structural integrity and biochemical cues of the dentine. The treatment process, often involving demineralization with agents like EDTA, exposes endogenous growth factors such as Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 (BMP-2), Transforming Growth Factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1), and Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 (FGF-2) that are naturally sequestered within the hydroxyapatite matrix. These factors promote the recruitment, proliferation, and odontogenic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs). hTDM is primarily utilized in regenerative dentistry for applications such as dental pulp regeneration, apexogenesis, and as a bone graft substitute due to its excellent biocompatibility, osteoconductivity, and inductive properties.
