Overview

Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (hUC-MSC-Exos) are nano-sized extracellular vesicles secreted by mesenchymal stem cells of the umbilical cord. These vesicles carry a bioactive cargo of proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids that mediate potent anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, promoting tissue repair and regeneration. In clinical development, specifically by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical College, these exosomes are being evaluated as the primary biological component of a triple-combination thermosensitive gel nasal spray for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps (CRSsNP). This investigational product is co-formulated with mupirocin, an antibiotic targeting *Staphylococcus aureus*, and DNase I, an enzyme that degrades extracellular DNA in bacterial biofilms. The thermosensitive gel formulation allows the spray to transition into a soft gel at body temperature, ensuring prolonged contact and sustained release of the active ingredients within the sinonasal cavity to reduce infection, clear mucus, and improve symptoms.
