Overview

Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-derived small extracellular vesicles (hUCMSC-sEV) are nanoscale vesicles (exosomes) secreted by mesenchymal stem cells harvested from the umbilical cord. Developed by Shenzhen People's Hospital, these vesicles function as natural intercellular communication vehicles that transport a cargo of proteins, microRNAs (miRNAs), and other bioactive molecules to recipient cells. In the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, hUCMSC-sEVs are intended to promote tissue repair, mitigate inflammation, and stimulate hair follicle regeneration. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial to assess its safety and efficacy compared to topical minoxidil in young men with hair loss.
