Overview

Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell injection is an allogeneic cell therapy developed by Changchun Tuohua Pharmaceutical for the treatment of moderate to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) of infectious etiology. The therapy consists of mesenchymal stem cells derived from human umbilical cord tissue, which are administered intravenously to leverage their immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. These cells are designed to address the systemic cytokine storm and acute lung injury associated with ARDS by secreting paracrine factors that modulate immune cell activity and promote tissue repair. The product has been certified by China's National Institutes for Food and Drug Control and is currently being evaluated in a Phase I/II dose-escalation clinical trial focusing on safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients with non-COVID-19 infectious ARDS.
