Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This cell-based biologic therapy consists of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSC) and is being developed by Shenzhen Hornetcorn Bio-technology Company, LTD. These multipotent adult stem cells are characterized by their immunomodulatory, anti-fibrotic, and regenerative capabilities. The therapy is currently under investigation in a Phase 1 clinical trial for the treatment of hepatic cirrhosis (liver cirrhosis). Administered via intravenous infusion or hepatic artery intervention, the hUC-MSCs are intended to migrate to the damaged liver tissue and promote repair through paracrine signaling, immune modulation, and the reduction of fibrotic activity, thereby potentially restoring liver function.
