Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stromal cells (hUC-MSCs) injection is an allogeneic cell therapy being developed by BOE Technology Group for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). hUC-MSCs are multipotent progenitor cells derived from the umbilical cord matrix that possess significant immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and pro-regenerative properties. Upon administration, these cells are thought to migrate to the site of injury and release a variety of paracrine factors, including neurotrophic factors (like BDNF) and angiogenic factors (like VEGF), which help to reduce neuroinflammation, promote tissue repair, and enhance functional recovery. The therapy is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients following an ischemic stroke event.
