humanin

Humanin is an endogenous mitochondrial-derived peptide with reported cytoprotective, neuroprotective, and metabolic effects in preclinical models. It has been studied as a peptide biologic that can improve insulin sensitivity, modulate cellular stress responses, and promote cell survival, but it has not been developed into an approved therapeutic product. Publicly available information indicates that humanin and humanin analogs remain largely research-stage agents, with no active interventional clinical development as a drug; humanin has also appeared in clinical research contexts as a biomarker rather than as an administered therapy.
