Overview

Humulin M5 is a premixed formulation of human insulin consisting of 50% regular (short-acting) insulin and 50% NPH (intermediate-acting) insulin. Developed by Eli Lilly & Co., it is produced using recombinant DNA technology. It is indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control. The regular insulin component provides a rapid onset of action to manage postprandial glucose, while the NPH component provides a prolonged effect for basal coverage.
