Overview

HuMV833 is a recombinant humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody designed to target **vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)**. Developed primarily by the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now Cancer Research UK), it is a humanized version of the murine antibody MV833. The drug functions as an anti-angiogenic agent by binding to and neutralizing VEGF, thereby preventing it from interacting with its receptors on endothelial cells. This inhibition leads to reduced tumor vascular permeability, decreased vessel density, and the suppression of tumor growth. Clinical evaluation has primarily focused on Phase I studies in patients with **advanced solid tumors**, including **ovarian cancer** and **colorectal cancer**. Additionally, HuMV833 has been utilized in molecular imaging studies, specifically using positron emission tomography (PET) with radioactive labeling (e.g., 124I-HuMV833) to assess antibody distribution and tumor vascular dynamics.
