Huo Xue Jie Du Tang

Huo Xue Jie Du Tang (HXJDT) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction developed by the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, specifically for the treatment of plaque psoriasis (psoriasis vulgaris). The formula is designed based on the TCM theory of blood stasis and toxin-heat, aiming to promote blood circulation and clear heat-toxins. It typically contains a combination of herbs such as *Radix Rehmanniae*, *Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae*, *Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae*, and *Radix Paeoniae Rubra*. Research suggests it modulates the immune response by inhibiting the IL-23/IL-17 axis, reducing the expression of inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-6, and regulating the proliferation and differentiation of keratinocytes. It is primarily used as a hospital-made preparation in clinical practice.
