Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huoitong Granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Guangdong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is formulated based on the TCM therapeutic principle of 'activating blood and dredging collaterals' (Huoxue Tongluo), which is intended to improve circulation and resolve blood stasis in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions. The granule is primarily indicated for patients with atherosclerotic ischemic stroke and stable coronary heart disease (angina). It is typically administered as an adjunctive therapy alongside conventional Western medical treatments, such as antiplatelet agents and statins. The drug is currently being evaluated in a prospective multicenter observational cohort study (ChiCTR2300076657) to assess its real-world effectiveness, safety, and heterogeneity of response in reducing recurrent vascular events and improving neurological function.
