Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huoxue Bushen Anshen prescription is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Guang'anmen Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is designed as an add-on therapy to standard-of-care treatments for patients with chronic heart failure secondary to acute myocardial infarction. The formulation specifically targets the TCM syndrome characterized by Qi deficiency, blood stasis, and kidney deficiency. Its therapeutic rationale is based on the TCM principles of 'Huoxue' (promoting blood circulation and removing stasis), 'Bushen' (tonifying the kidney), and 'Anshen' (calming the mind and tranquilizing). By addressing these underlying imbalances, the prescription aims to improve cardiac function, alleviate clinical symptoms, and enhance the quality of life in adult patients. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 3 randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial in China.
