Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huoxue Qianyang Qutan Recipe (HQQR) is a traditional Chinese herbal compound formula used primarily for the management of hypertension and its complications, especially in patients with blood stasis, yang hyperactivity, and phlegm syndromes according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory. The formulation consists of multiple herbs including Salvia miltiorrhizae, Stone Cassia, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Uncaria angustifolia, mulberry parasite (Taxillus chinensis), hawthorn (Crataegus pinnatifida), and corn whisker. Mechanistically, HQQR has been shown in clinical trials and preclinical studies to lower blood pressure, improve glycolipid metabolism and insulin resistance, reduce inflammation (notably by lowering IL-6 levels), protect against target organ damage such as left ventricular hypertrophy and early renal injury in obesity-related hypertension. Its effects are mediated through modulation of pathways such as SIRT1/PGC-1α deacetylation—improving mitochondrial function—and inhibition of NF-κB-mediated inflammatory signaling[1][2][3][5].
