Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huoxue Shengji (HXSJ) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction primarily used for the treatment of chronic skin ulcers, including venous leg ulcers and refractory wounds. It is clinically applied to promote granulation tissue formation and accelerate wound healing. Mechanistically, HXSJ has been shown to alleviate ferroptosis in vascular endothelial cells by modulating the Nrf2/xCT/GPX4 signaling pathway, specifically preventing the inactivation of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) caused by iron accumulation. It is often used in combination with other therapies such as vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) or negative pressure wound therapy with instillation (NPWTi).
