Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huoxue Shufeng Granule (HXSFG) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed for the treatment of chronic migraine. It is designed to address the TCM patterns of "wind" and "blood stasis," which are commonly associated with headache disorders. Pharmacological studies indicate that HXSFG exerts its therapeutic effects by alleviating central sensitization through the inhibition of the TLR4/NF-κB inflammatory signaling pathway. It has been shown to reduce the expression of inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), as well as pain-related markers including Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) and c-Fos in the trigeminal nucleus caudalis. The formulation contains several active chemical components, including formononetin, paeoniflorin, quercetin, and tanshinone, which are derived from its constituent herbs.
