The name "Huoxuelishang" translates to "activate blood and relieve injury," reflecting its intended use in promoting blood circulation and alleviating symptoms associated with musculoskeletal trauma. It is commonly applied externally as a medicated patch or plaster, often in combination with other therapies such as acupuncture. The mechanism of action is based on TCM principles—primarily the promotion of local blood flow and reduction of inflammation to facilitate healing—but specific molecular targets are not well characterized in Western pharmacology[2]. There is no evidence that it acts via known pharmaceutical targets.
