Overview
Huoxue Xiaoyi Decoction (HXXYD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily utilized for the treatment of autoimmune thyroid disorders, specifically Hashimoto's thyroiditis and thyroid nodules. The decoction is composed of several botanical ingredients, typically including *Prunella vulgaris*, *Radix Scrophulariae*, *Radix Paeoniae Rubra*, and *Radix Curcumae*, which are selected for their synergistic effects in promoting blood circulation and resolving masses. Pharmacologically, HXXYD has been shown to modulate the immune microenvironment by restoring the balance between Th17 and Treg cells. This modulation leads to a significant reduction in the serum levels of thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb) and thyroglobulin antibodies (TGAb). Furthermore, the decoction exerts anti-inflammatory properties by downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-17 and upregulating anti-inflammatory cytokines like IL-10, thereby protecting thyroid follicular cells from autoimmune-mediated damage and reducing goiter volume.
