Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hurri-Freeze is a topical anesthetic skin refrigerant (vapo-coolant) used to provide immediate, temporary numbing of the skin prior to minor surgical procedures, injections, or venipuncture. Developed by Beutlich Pharmaceuticals and currently marketed by Nuance Medical, it consists of a blend of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane. The mechanism of action involves rapid evaporative cooling upon application to the skin, which temporarily desensitizes local nerve endings and reduces the perception of pain from needle sticks or small incisions. It is non-flammable and intended for topical use only.
