Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huzhang Yizhi (虎杖益智颗粒) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound granule formulation. It combines extracts from Huzhang (Polygonum cuspidatum, also known as Japanese knotweed) and Yizhi Ren (Alpinia oxyphylla fruit). The product is designed to support cognitive function, with primary indications for memory loss and symptoms associated with dementia or mild cognitive impairment. The mechanism of action is based on the TCM theory of supplementing kidney and spleen function to benefit intelligence and brain health. Preclinical studies suggest that resveratrol glycosides from Polygonum cuspidatum may have neuroprotective effects, improving learning and memory in animal models of dementia[2]. This product is used orally as a granule dissolved in water.
