Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HW-281171 is an orally bioavailable, potent, and highly selective small molecule antagonist of the Mas-related G-protein coupled receptor member X2 (MRGPRX2). Developed by Hubei Bio-Pharmaceutical Industrial Technological Institute, a subsidiary of Humanwell Healthcare, the drug is designed to inhibit IgE-independent mast cell activation and subsequent degranulation. By blocking MRGPRX2, HW-281171 aims to prevent the release of inflammatory mediators, offering a novel therapeutic approach for mast cell-mediated conditions. It is primarily being developed for the treatment of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and other allergic or inflammatory skin disorders, such as atopic dermatitis. HW-281171 was designed with optimized potency, toxicity, and pharmacokinetic profiles compared to other MRGPRX2 antagonists like EP262.
