HWH-10d is a novel small molecule inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) being investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. As a DPP-IV inhibitor, it works by preventing the degradation of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), which enhances insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. Preclinical studies in ICR male mice have shown that HWH-10d possesses glucose-lowering efficacy comparable to the marketed drug alogliptin. Pharmacokinetic evaluations in rhesus monkeys have demonstrated that the compound has an oral bioavailability of approximately 57.8% and a favorable safety profile in early animal models.
