Overview

HWS111 is a small molecule Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist developed by the Hubei Biological Medicine Industrial Technology Institute for the treatment and prevention of migraine disorders. CGRP is a potent neuropeptide and vasodilator that plays a central role in migraine pathophysiology by mediating pain transmission and neurogenic inflammation within the trigeminal vascular system. By selectively antagonizing the CGRP receptor, HWS111 blocks these signaling pathways, thereby reducing the severity and frequency of migraine attacks. The drug is formulated as an oral tablet and has received Investigational New Drug (IND) approval from the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), marking its transition into clinical development.
