Hx-002 is an allogeneic cell therapy composed of hepatocyte-like cells (HLCs) derived from stem cells, currently in early development by HepaTx for the treatment of various liver diseases. The therapy utilizes technology licensed from Stanford University to produce functional HLCs through a scalable and fully-defined manufacturing process. These cells are intended to restore hepatic function and exhibit immunomodulatory properties, potentially serving as a functional alternative to liver transplantation. While currently in early preclinical development, Hx-002 follows the company's lead program (Hx-001) and is aimed at addressing a range of liver pathologies that require the restoration of healthy hepatocyte activity.
