HX-1 (also referred to as HuaXi-1) is an experimental organ preservation solution developed as a cost-effective alternative to standard solutions like University of Wisconsin (UW) solution. It is designed for the cold storage and preservation of intra-abdominal organs such as liver, pancreas, and kidney prior to transplantation. Preclinical studies in animal models have shown that HX-1 preserves rat liver for 24 hours, rat pancreas for 48 hours, and dog kidney for 72 hours with efficacy comparable to UW solution. The mechanism of action involves maintaining tissue viability during hypothermic storage by preventing cellular damage and preserving organ function[2].
