Overview

HX017 is a preclinical-stage monoclonal antibody developed by HanX Biopharmaceutical that targets the NKG2A (Killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily C member 1) inhibitory receptor. NKG2A is an immune checkpoint receptor primarily expressed on Natural Killer (NK) cells and a subset of cytotoxic CD8+ T lymphocytes. In many cancers, the ligand HLA-E is overexpressed on the surface of tumor cells, which binds to NKG2A and triggers inhibitory signaling that suppresses the immune response. HX017 is designed to block the interaction between NKG2A and HLA-E, thereby relieving this inhibition and enhancing the anti-tumor effector functions of NK and T cells. This mechanism represents a novel approach in immuno-oncology, potentially offering a therapeutic option for patients with solid tumors or hematological malignancies, including those who may not respond to traditional PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors.
