HX0507

HX0507 is a novel, short-acting intravenous anesthetic agent developed by West China Hospital of Sichuan University. It is a structural analogue of etomidate, designed as a "soft drug" to provide rapid onset and recovery from anesthesia while minimizing the prolonged adrenocortical suppression typically associated with etomidate. HX0507 acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA-A) receptor, enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system. By incorporating a metabolically labile ester group, the drug is rapidly inactivated by non-specific tissue esterases, allowing for a predictable and fast recovery profile even after prolonged infusion. It is primarily being investigated for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia.
