Overview

HX412 is a hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier (HBOC) developed by Huaxia Shengsheng Pharmaceutical (Beijing) Co., Ltd. for the treatment of hypovolemia and hemorrhagic shock. It is a polymerized human hemoglobin (PolyHBH) solution derived from outdated human red blood cells. The drug functions as a temporary blood substitute by binding oxygen in the lungs and releasing it into peripheral tissues, maintaining systemic oxygen delivery in patients with acute blood loss. Unlike whole blood, HX412 does not require blood type matching and has a reduced risk of viral transmission, making it a potential critical care intervention in emergency settings where donor blood is unavailable.
