Overview

HXTC refers to an investigational cell therapy consisting of ex-vivo expanded, HIV-specific T cells. These are autologous (patient-derived) or allogeneic (donor-derived) T cells that have been stimulated and expanded outside the body using specific HIV antigens, then infused back into the patient. The goal is to enhance immune control over persistent HIV infection by increasing the number and activity of T cells specifically targeting HIV-infected cells. Early clinical studies suggest that HXTC therapy is safe and well tolerated in people with HIV who are also receiving antiretroviral therapy[2][9][10]. This approach is being explored as a potential adjunctive immunotherapy for durable viral suppression or functional cure in chronic HIV infection.
