Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HY-028 is an intravenous (IV) formulation of dofetilide, a Class III antiarrhythmic agent, being developed by Hyloris Pharmaceuticals. Dofetilide is traditionally administered as an oral capsule (marketed as Tikosyn) for the conversion and maintenance of normal sinus rhythm in patients with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter. The oral initiation of dofetilide is strictly regulated, requiring a minimum three-day hospital stay for continuous ECG monitoring due to the risk of induced arrhythmia (Torsades de Pointes) during the titration phase. HY-028 is designed as a "Value Added Medicine" to provide a faster onset of action and more precise control over plasma concentrations in a hospital setting, potentially simplifying the treatment initiation process and improving patient management for acute cardioversion.
