Overview
HY-088 is an ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle (USPIO) injection being developed as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The drug consists of iron oxide crystals coated with polyacrylic acid (PAA) on the surface, which serves to stabilize the nanoparticles and enhance their biocompatibility. Developed by Sichuan Huiyu Seacross Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of Huiyu Pharmaceutical) in collaboration with InnoStar Bio-tech, HY-088 functions by shortening the T2 and T2* relaxation times of water protons in the surrounding tissue, thereby improving image contrast. Preclinical studies in rat models have characterized its pharmacokinetic profile and tissue distribution, supporting its potential use in diagnostic imaging applications.
