Overview

HY-0902 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of the urate transporter 1 (URAT1), co-developed by Shandong Haiya Pharmaceutical Technology and Shandong University for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. URAT1, encoded by the SLC22A12 gene, is a key transporter protein located on the apical membrane of renal proximal tubule cells, where it mediates the reabsorption of filtered uric acid from the tubular lumen back into the blood. By selectively inhibiting URAT1, HY-0902 blocks this reabsorption process, thereby increasing the renal clearance of uric acid and effectively lowering serum urate concentrations. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in patients with hyperuricemia.
