Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HY-1608 is a long-acting injectable opioid analgesic developed by Beijing Junke Huayuan Pharmaceutical Technology for the management of postoperative pain. It is a sustained-release formulation or prodrug of hydromorphone, a potent mu-opioid receptor agonist. By activating mu-opioid receptors in the central nervous system, HY-1608 inhibits ascending pain pathways and alters the perception of and response to pain. The drug is designed to provide prolonged analgesia following major surgical procedures, such as abdominal surgery, potentially reducing the frequency of administration or the need for patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pumps. It is currently in Phase II clinical development in China.
