Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hy-ter is a topical medical device formulated as pre-moistened lid wipes for the treatment of seborrheic blepharitis and the management of eyelid hygiene. The product contains two primary active ingredients: terpinen-4-ol, the main constituent of tea tree oil, and sodium hyaluronate. Terpinen-4-ol provides antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and acaricidal properties, specifically targeting *Demodex* mites which are frequently associated with blepharitis. Sodium hyaluronate acts as a moisturizing and lubricating agent to soothe the eyelid skin and maintain the integrity of the tear film. Hy-ter was evaluated in a randomized, double-blind Phase 4 clinical trial conducted by researchers at Istanbul University - Cerrahpasa, where it demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing symptoms and *Demodex* counts compared to standard treatments like baby shampoo. It is manufactured by NTC (Novelty Technology Care) in Italy.
