Overview

HY209GEL (NuGel) is a topical gel formulation containing taurodeoxycholic acid as its active pharmaceutical ingredient. It is being developed for the treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis. The drug acts as an agonist of G protein-coupled receptor 19 (GPCR19), also known as TGR5, and modulates the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway through GPCR19-P2X7 interaction. This mechanism leads to broad suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-4, IL-6, IL-13, IL-17, MCP-1 (CCL2), and RANTES. Preclinical studies have shown that it promotes tissue regeneration and reduces immune cell infiltration while increasing regulatory T cells and upregulating anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. Clinical trials indicate a favorable safety profile with no serious adverse events reported[4][5][6]. Developed by Shaperon based on the DAMP theory of immunology discovered by Professor Seong Seung-yong.
