HYADD4

HYADD4 is a high-viscosity, hyaluronic acid-based hydrogel developed by Fidia Farmaceutici for the treatment of joint-related pain and degenerative conditions. It consists of a hexadecylamide derivative of hyaluronic acid, specifically a 2% partial hexadecylamide modification, which enhances its viscoelastic properties compared to natural hyaluronic acid. Marketed under the brand name HYMOVIS, it is primarily used as an intra-articular injection for knee and hip osteoarthritis, providing lubrication and shock absorption. It has also been investigated for intradiscal administration in patients with degenerative disc disease. Its mechanism of action is primarily mechanical, though it may also modulate inflammatory mediators and reduce nerve afferent activity in the joint.
