Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hyal-Plus is an oral nutraceutical combination product developed and marketed by Elliott Labs for the management of joint disorders, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, facet arthropathy, and ankylosing spondylitis. Formulated as a tablet, it contains a synergistic blend of Rosehip extract, Boswellia serrata extract, Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), and piperine. Boswellia serrata extract acts as an allosteric inhibitor of arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase (ALOX5), reducing the synthesis of inflammatory leukotrienes. Rosehip extract contains anti-inflammatory galactolipids (such as GOPO) that inhibit leukocyte chemotaxis and cytokine secretion, thereby protecting cartilage from degradation. Vitamin C serves as an essential cofactor for prolyl 4-hydroxylase, promoting collagen synthesis and cartilage repair. Piperine acts as a bioenhancer by inhibiting drug-metabolizing enzymes (such as CYP3A4) and efflux transporters (such as P-glycoprotein/ABCB1), which increases the absorption and bioavailability of the other active ingredients while also providing mild anti-inflammatory benefits.
