Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CHAP-HA (Crosslinked Hyaluronic Acid Platform Hyaluronan) is a high-molecular-weight, crosslinked hyaluronic acid viscosupplement developed by SciVision Biotech. It is specifically designed as a single-injection treatment for pain associated with knee osteoarthritis. The CHAP technology utilizes a proprietary crosslinking process to create a stable hydrogel that provides prolonged lubrication and mechanical shock absorption within the synovial joint. Unlike linear hyaluronan, which often requires multiple injections due to rapid enzymatic degradation, CHAP-HA's crosslinked structure increases its residence time in the joint, potentially offering pain relief and improved physical function for up to 52 weeks. In addition to its mechanical properties, it interacts with biological receptors such as CD44 to modulate inflammatory responses in the synovium.
