Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**hyaluronic acid + Chitlac** is a combination formulation comprising hyaluronic acid (HA), a major component of synovial fluid with lubricating and chondroprotective functions, and Chitlac (CTL), a lactose-modified chitosan derivative. This combination, commercially known as ARTY-DUO, is intended for intra-articular injection to treat osteoarthritis. The mechanism involves enhancing cartilage protection and reducing inflammation—HA contributes to viscoelastic properties and chondroprotection, while Chitlac promotes cartilage growth and prolongs HA’s intra-articular residence time. Preclinical and in vitro studies indicate that the combination attenuates inflammation, improves cell viability, and promotes cartilage regeneration beyond the effect of HA alone, likely via downregulation of cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-6 and reduction of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-3, MMP-13)[1][3].
