Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hyaluronic acid complex is a formulation of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan found in the extracellular matrix of connective tissues, skin, and synovial fluid. In clinical settings, such as oral and maxillofacial surgery, hyaluronic acid complex (often administered as a 0.2% gel) is utilized for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and tissue-regenerating properties. It helps reduce postoperative pain, edema, and trismus (limited mouth opening) following procedures like mandibular third molar extraction. Hyaluronic acid acts as a ligand that binds to cell surface receptors, primarily CD44 and RHAMM, modulating inflammatory responses, promoting angiogenesis, and accelerating wound healing and tissue repair.
