Overview
Hydeal Cyst is a combination medical device and therapeutic product designed to restore and protect the physiological barrier of the bladder wall. It contains 1.8% hyaluronic acid sodium salt (sodium hyaluronate) and 0.2% Hydeal-D, a proprietary benzyl ester derivative of hyaluronic acid developed for prolonged release. The formulation is administered intravesically to replenish the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer of the bladder urothelium, which is often damaged in conditions like cystitis or following surgical procedures. By restoring this layer, the product protects the bladder from toxic urinary irritants, thereby reducing irritation, inflammation, and pain. It is currently being investigated in clinical trials for use in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) following transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) to support urothelial healing and potentially reduce recurrence.
