Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hylase Dessau is an injectable enzyme preparation containing bovine testicular hyaluronidase. It acts by depolymerizing hyaluronic acid, a major polysaccharide of the extracellular matrix, thereby decreasing the viscosity of the interstitial tissue and increasing its permeability. This spreading factor effect facilitates the diffusion and absorption of co-administered fluids and drugs. Developed by RIEMSER Pharma, it is primarily indicated as an adjuvant to enhance the spread and efficacy of local anesthetics. It is also widely used off-label in aesthetic medicine to dissolve hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers and manage associated complications like vascular occlusion or edema.
