Hyaluronidase PH20 + hyaluronic acid is a combination of the enzyme human recombinant hyaluronidase (PH20) and its substrate, hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronidase PH20 is an endoglycosidase that specifically hydrolyzes the β-1,4 glycosidic bonds in hyaluronic acid, a major component of the extracellular matrix. This enzymatic action reduces the viscosity of connective tissue by depolymerizing hyaluronic acid, thereby increasing tissue permeability and facilitating the absorption and dispersion of co-administered drugs or fluids. Recombinant forms of human PH20 are produced in systems such as Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells or Pichia pastoris for medical use[3][4][7][8]. The primary clinical application is to enhance subcutaneous drug delivery or to dissolve excess or misplaced dermal fillers composed of cross-linked hyaluronic acid[1][2].
