Overview

HYB_BKV is an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) developed by Hybridize Therapeutics for the treatment and prevention of BK virus (BKV) infections. It is specifically designed to bind to BKV viral mRNA, thereby inhibiting viral gene expression and replication. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for indications including BK virus nephropathy in kidney transplant recipients and hemorrhagic cystitis in hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients. By targeting the viral mRNA directly, HYB_BKV aims to provide a highly specific antiviral effect with a reduced risk of off-target toxicities compared to traditional small-molecule antivirals.
