Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hydeal-D is a proprietary benzyl ester of hyaluronic acid (HA) developed by Fidia Farmaceutici using their HYAFF technology. By esterifying the carboxylic groups of the glucuronic acid units of HA with benzyl alcohol, the resulting polymer exhibits significantly increased residence time on mucosal surfaces and enhanced resistance to enzymatic degradation compared to native HA. Hydeal-D acts as a bioadhesive lubricant and protective barrier, facilitating tissue hydration and supporting the natural healing process of the epithelium. It is employed in various clinical settings, including the management of vulvovaginal atrophy, nasal dryness, and the mitigation of storage lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) following transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT).
