Overview

HydraMed is a preservative-free ophthalmic lubricant containing 0.2% sodium hyaluronate, developed by Farmigea for the treatment of dry eye disease. The formulation is specifically engineered with a high molecular weight sodium hyaluronate that exhibits non-Newtonian rheological behavior. This property allows the drops to have low viscosity during blinking to minimize friction and high viscosity between blinks to enhance tear film stability and ocular surface retention. By mimicking the natural mucin layer of the tear film and interacting with CD44 receptors on the ocular surface, HydraMed provides long-lasting hydration and protection to the corneal and conjunctival epithelium, alleviating symptoms of ocular dryness and irritation.
