Overview

*Hydrastis canadensis*, commonly known as Goldenseal, is a perennial herb in the Ranunculaceae family native to North America. It is widely utilized in traditional, herbal, and homeopathic medicine, primarily for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. The plant's therapeutic activity is attributed to its isoquinoline alkaloids, most notably berberine and hydrastine. Homeopathic preparations, such as those manufactured by Paramesh Banerji Life Sciences, are indicated for liver ailments, digestive disorders, and mucous membrane inflammation. While it has a long history of use for conditions ranging from sinus infections to skin ulcers, *Hydrastis canadensis* products are generally classified as dietary supplements or homeopathic remedies and have not undergone formal FDA evaluation for safety or efficacy in the treatment of specific diseases.
